(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, 12 MAY – ‘From heroes to zeroes’, ‘from heroes to nullity’. It is one of the many signs waved by American nurses and health workers who took to the streets of Washington and marched to Capitol Hill.
Thousands demonstrated in the capital and major American cities to demand higher wages and less inhumane working conditions, especially after the two-year Covid pandemic that put hospital workers to the test. “You used us and now you throw us away”, shout the demonstrators accompanied by some of their former patients in wheelchairs who wanted to show their support for such important and neglected figures in the American health system.
