Couple wins BRL 1 billion in British lottery; biggest jackpot recorded in Euromillions

A British couple changed their lives on May 11. Joe, 49, and Jess Thwaite, 44, won 184 million pounds in the European lottery. This was the biggest prize in the history of Euromillions, United Kingdom. The winners were surprised with the result and value of the prize. “I looked at my e-mail and there was a message saying that I won”, said Joe during a press conference held this Thursday, 19. “When I saw the amount, I dropped my cell phone. Then I took it, looked again at the value and found it was in thousands,” he added.

Joe, who works as a communications engineer, reported that instead of running out, waking up his wife and telling him the news, he held back his emotion and waited for her to wake up so he could break the news. When he got the news, Jess, who runs a family beauty salon, couldn’t believe it and thought it was a joke. The couple who had the house under construction and have been struggling with the bills for some time said that this achievement comes at a good time. “This award is a huge relief to my whole family, we’ve been struggling with bills and all that stuff for a long time,” Jess said.

Married for 11 years and parents of two school-age children, the couple says that they haven’t had much time to think about what they are going to do, however, they already know that they are going to leave work, make good investments with the amount received, summer trip to Hawaii and want to bring more comfort and stability to their children. As for the couple’s renovation, they do not know if they will continue as they do not intend to stay there.
