(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 20 – A Ukrainian patriotic stamp. It is the gift made by the Ukrainian ambassador to Canada, Yulia Kovalev to Prince Charles of England and his wife Camilla, during their visit to the country. This was reported by the Ukrainian agency UNIAN.
During the royal family’s visit to Ottawa, Charles and Camilla visited the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the Canadian capital, they met the Ukrainian community, along with diplomats.
“The visit of the royal family to our community is an important sign of solidarity with the Ukrainians in defending our independence. We are grateful for the support for Ukraine shown by the United Kingdom, Canada and Commonwealth countries,” writes the ambassador on her Facebook page.
The stamp is called “Russian Warship, Go …! Glory to the Heroes!” and was put into circulation by the Ukrainian postal service (Ukrposhta) on 12 April. It recalls the response of a Ukrainian Navy soldier to the request for surrender, made by a Russian warship, during the attack on the island of the Snakes, on the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, on February 24th. This moment later became one of the symbols of the Ukrainian struggle. (HANDLE).
