(ANSA) – NEW YORK, MAY 20 – Two dead and eight injured are the toll of a new shooting in Chicago. According to the police, the violence was unleashed after an argument in front of a McDonald’s in the North Side area. After firing, the suspect headed for a subway line, wreaking havoc in the station as well. Officers tried to evacuate the carriages and one person was injured after falling onto a railroad track. Only one person has been arrested for the shooting at the moment.
According to recent data, shootings in the heart of Chicago have increased significantly: by 225% in the 18th district, which includes the site of the accident, while the first district, which includes part of the Downtown and the Loop, that is the historic center of the financial area, saw a 100% increase.
