“My position is that we need to talk to the Moldovan government. I don’t want to go beyond what the Moldovan leadership requires of us,” Mix said.
He noted that “dialogue is underway” and decisions will be made “collectively” between the allies, and Moldova is one of the best allies of the United States.
“One of the reasons for the success of Ukraine and the success of the region is that we will work together. We will focus our efforts on getting all our allies to work together with one voice and in one direction so that Putin does not continue his incursions into other countries” , said the Chairman of the Committee.
Zhdanov revealed Russia’s plan to seize Moldova
In Moldova, the Russian invaders have already built a system of checkpoints. At the same time, Russian troops are waiting for reinforcements from the sea. About it told military expert Oleg Zhdanov.
“Without this (reinforcement – ed.), all they can do is only shake up the situation in Moldova itself, either by terrorist acts or by demonstration actions,” he said.
According to the expert, at its widest point, the territory of Pridnestrovie is 34 km. Armed forces of Ukraine in terms of firing range can cover the entire territory of Transnistria:
“Therefore, without reinforcements, the enemy will not be able to break through or inflict military harm on us. From a political point of view, if I were the Russian General Staff, I would capture Moldova.”
Zhdanov is convinced that if the reinforcements manage to break into this region, then the political capture of Moldova, forcing it to capitulate and an agreement with Russia is a logical scenario. Then Russia can demand the right of servitude.
“There is such a definition in international law: when a country is in an enclave, neighboring states must provide a corridor for communication with this country. This is akin to the situation in Azerbaijan or with the territory of Karabakh, with Armenia. They have bilateral corridors. Most likely, this is exactly the variant of the Russian Federation plans to crank out in Ukraine,” the expert said.
Zhdanov also stressed that as long as the Armed Forces of Ukraine retain control over Zmeiny Island, Russia will not succeed.
