Texas Shooting: Biden, I’m tired, we need to take action on the guns

(ANSA) – NEW YORK, MAY 24 – “I’m tired, we have to act” on weapons. This was stated by Joe Biden addressing the Americans after the massacre in the Texas elementary school, where an 18-year-old killed 18 children. “The notion that an 18-year-old could walk into a store and buy a shotgun is wrong,” adds Biden, alongside First Lady Jill Biden. “Why don’t these shootings happen in other parts of the world? Why – wonders the US president – do we want to live with these carnage? It is time to transform pain into action and act on weapons”.

For Biden, on weapons “we can do more and we must do more. When for God’s sake will we face the arms lobby?”. As Vice President Biden had experienced firsthand the Sandy Hook elementary school massacre, calling it one of the darkest periods of Obama’s eight-year presidency. “I was hoping when I became president that I wouldn’t have to do this again,” adds Biden, calling for common-sense gun laws in the face of a lobby that has spent two decades aggressively promoting assault weapons. “Why do we want to live with this carnage? Why do we keep allowing this to happen? For God’s sake where is our backbone?” (HANDLE).
