(ANSA) – ISLAMABAD, MAY 26 – At least 27 members of security personnel in Pakistan were injured during clashes with supporters of the party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday in Islamabad.
A demonstration led by Khan entered the federal capital and headed downtown for a sit-in. Supporters of his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), clashed with police and paramilitary forces. “A total of 27 security personnel were injured, including 18 policemen and nine paramilitaries,” Islamabad police said in a statement. Protesters also set a subway bus station and several trees on fire.

Claiming that he was overthrown by the United States during a no-confidence vote against him last month. (HANDLE).
