(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 26 – Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 240 children have been killed (yesterday there were 238), more than 436 have been injured. This was reported by the Ukrainian Public Prosecutor’s Office on Telegram, indicating that the data are not definitive due to the ongoing hostilities. The last two children who lost their lives were in civilian cars hit by bombs in the Mykolaiv region.
The largest number of victims was recorded in the Donetsk, Kiev, Kharkiv, Chernihiv regions. Of the 240 children who lost their lives in the three-month Russian invasion, more than 150 died in the Donetsk region, the attorney general explained. The figure is significantly higher than in any other region of the country, he said.
According to the Councilor of the Ukrainian Permanent Mission to the UN, Sergiy Dvornyk, Russian forces have kidnapped at least 230,000 Ukrainian children since the invasion of the country on 24 February last. (HANDLE).
