Texas: Cruz dismisses Sky news reporter, you’re doing politics

(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, MAY 26 – Republican Senator Ted Cruz, one of the staunchest opponents of a tightening on weapons, has lost patience with a Sky news reporter who asked him to explain why massacres like the one in Texas only happen in the United States. The video posted on the UK all news Twitter account has been viewed over 8 million times. “You have your own political agenda,” Cruz said, not answering the question. The senator was attending a vigil for the victims of Uvalde Elementary School with the governor of Texas, Gregg Abbott.

“Because there is this horrible uniqueness in America,” the reporter urges. “Isn’t this the time to carry out a reform on weapons?”, Urges the journalist. “The changes proposed by the Democrats would not stop violent crimes,” replies Cruz. The reporter keeps asking why America is unique in the world, why it has this “horrible uniqueness”. At that point the senator loses his patience. “I’m sorry you think America’s uniqueness is horrifying, people come here from all over the world because it’s the most prosperous, free and safest country on earth. God loves you,” he says before walking away without answering.
