The Russian Defense Ministry believes that US military biological laboratories may be involved in the outbreak of monkeypox.

This statement was made on May 27 by Igor Kirillov, head of the troops for radiation, chemical and biological protection of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. According to him, monkeypox was introduced from Nigeria, where at least four US biolaboratories operate, the Mash Telegram channel reports.

“The department emphasized that 98% of the monkeys with smallpox are gay men over 20 years old. And the Pentagon could be behind the outbreak of the disease: after all, American instructors trained Ukrainians in emergency response to outbreaks of smallpox. Moreover, vaccination of the US military and doctors against smallpox indicates that Washington is considering the smallpox pathogen as a priority bioagent,” the statement said.

Dr. Komarovsky told whether to be afraid of monkeypox

Dr. Evgeny Komarovsky explained what the monkeypox virus is and whether it is necessary to be afraid of it.

“The peculiarity of monkeypox is that its symptoms are almost the same as those of natural smallpox, although they are much milder in their manifestations,” Dr. Komarovsky said.

According to him, in order to become infected with monkeypox, you need very close and rather long contact with the sick person.

Since the symptoms of the two diseases described above are almost the same, the smallpox vaccine and antiviral agents are effective against monkeypox.
