(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, MAY 30 – “Vladimir Putin uses wheat as a weapon of war”. This was stated by the High Representative for foreign policy Josep Borrell speaking to France Info radio ahead of today’s summit of heads of state and government in Brussels. “There are 20 million tons of grain stored in Ukraine that should be exported” and then “we have to make room in the warehouses for the next harvest,” he stressed. On the routes for the export of Ukrainian wheat “we have to find an alternative route, the sea route is very difficult”, “we are working”. As for the idea of opening a humanitarian corridor on the Black Sea “we can imagine it”, but “we cannot do it without the agreement of Russia, these waters are full of mines”. “We need an agreement with Russia” and “it must be done at the level of the United Nations”.
