(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, MAY 30 – “We welcome the draft conclusions of the European Council, we hope it can be confirmed tonight, of course we would have liked to have done more”, but it is positive that progress has been made.
This was stated by the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, arriving at the extraordinary EU summit. “The position of the European Parliament is clear, we need to eliminate dependence on Russia for all fossil fuels” and “buy energy and diversify our resources from our friends and not our enemies”, explained Metsola, also hoping , an “unequivocal statement” on Ukraine’s candidate country status for the EU.
