(ANSA) – TEL AVIV, 01 JUN – “Together with the Italian Republic Day, we celebrate today the friendship between Italy and Israel which dates back to a few months after the foundation” of the Jewish state in 1948. Ambassador Sergio Barbanti underlined this. opening the celebrations of June 2nd in the traditional reception in the Residence yesterday evening. A ceremony attended by the minister of justice, Gideon Saar, and other representatives of Israeli institutions. “Italy and Israel – continued Barbanti, addressing the more than 500 present – share the democratic values ​​on which their respective states are founded, an innate creative genius and an instinctive sympathy for each other”. “We will continue to cultivate this friendship as a precious asset – concluded Barbanti – also with the help of the Jewish community in Italy and the Italian one in Israel, contributing to a path of peace in Israel, in the region and in the world”. A path shared by the Saar minister according to which “relations between the two countries continue to be among the closest”. “We are awaiting the arrival of Prime Minister Mario Draghi whose visit marks the special friendship that the two countries share and which will lead us to even more intense relations”.

Made in Italy was at the center of the reception which also saw a jazz music concert. On stage six artists, three Italians (Mirko Signorile, Gaia Gentile and Raffaele Casarano) and three Israelis, who interpreted a series of great classics of Italian music in a jazz key with some songs from the Israeli tradition. The celebrations will continue this evening with ‘Musica on The Beach’, a “great musical event organized” by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv which returns after the silence imposed by the pandemic At sunset on one of the most suggestive of Tel Aviv – the embassy explained – the musician Nello Salza will perform with his quartet on the notes of the soundtracks that have marked the history of Italian cinema, Ennio Morricone included. Salza will be followed by DJ Dana Keila who will conclude the event with a set of Italian music, groove and electro swing.
