According to the publication, which it received from American intelligence, during the entire period of Putin’s rule in the Kremlin, there has never been such an intense struggle in the Kremlin.

“Everyone feels the end is near,” said one intelligence source.

Three other intelligence sources — a spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), a retired senior Air Force officer and a Pentagon intelligence agency (DIA) official — warn that the Russian leader’s isolation makes it difficult for US intelligence agencies to accurately assess the Russian president’s health.

“One of our best sources of intelligence — the Russian president’s contacts with third parties — has largely dried up as a result of the war in Ukraine. Putin has had few meetings with foreign leaders. This cuts off access to information that can sometimes be obtained through personal meetings,” — noted a DIA employee.

Putin’s isolation has thus raised the level of speculation.

“We have to be mindful of wishful thinking. We learned – or didn’t learn – this lesson the hard way with Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein,” warned the retired US Air Force commander.

American intelligence added that Hussein had a serious mental disorder, and bin Laden was dying of kidney disease.

“Putin is still dangerous, and if he really dies, chaos awaits us. We need to focus on this. Be prepared,” said an official from the office of the director of national intelligence.

Lavrov commented on rumors about Putin’s fatal illness

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov does not confirm the information that Russian President Vladimir Putin has health problems.

“President Vladimir Putin appears in public every day. You can watch him on screens, read and listen to his speeches. I don’t think that sane people can see signs of some kind of illness or ailment in this person. I leave it to the conscience of those who dissolve such rumors, contrary to everyday opportunities, to make sure who and what they look like,” Lavrov said.
