(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 03 – Three people were shot dead in a parking lot outside a church in Ames, Iowa, according to local press reports from the Story County sheriff.
One of the three dead would be the attacker, who would have committed suicide. The sheriff’s captain said the emergency services received several calls around 6.50pm, just before 1am in Italy, while a periodic event for his youth ministry was underway in the church.The shooting took place in the parking lot. of the church while other people were inside the building.
Police reported that a grown man shot and killed two women and then took his own life in the parking lot in front of the church in Ames, Iowa, located near a major interchange between Highway 30 and Interstate 35.
The age of the two victims was not disclosed and the weapon used in the shooting was not identified. However, any further threats to passers-by are excluded.
Ames, 30 miles north of Des Moines, is the principal center of a 126,195 metropolitan area and is the home of Iowa State University. It is also home to major U.S. Department of Agriculture research facilities, as well as numerous agriculture-related industries, including Renewable Energy Group, a biodiesel company that Chevron recently acquired for $ 3.15 billion.
