Assange: Spanish judge asks to hear Mike Pompeo

(ANSA) – MADRID, JUN 03 – Spanish judge Santiago Pedraz asked to hear as a witness the former US secretary of state and former CIA head Mike Pompeo as part of an investigation into the surveillance system of the embassy of the Ecuador in London, where Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks took refuge: the news agency Efe and other Iberian media report.

Pedraz, who is a magistrate of the court of the Audiencia Nacional, is investigating this matter because the surveillance system of the embassy was created by a Spanish firm: the suspicion is that it was used to spy on Assange. The judge’s interest in hearing Pompeo is due to the fact that at the time of the events he is investigating he was the number one of the CIA (2017-2018): the goal is to understand whether the US had access to information through these channels. To this end, Pedraz requested the corresponding authorization from the United States, explains the Iberian press. (HANDLE).
