Covid: Brazil, positive swabs in pharmacies increased 326%

(ANSA) – BRAZIL, JUN 06 – In Brazil, coronavirus positive swabs carried out in pharmacies had an increase of 326% in May: the Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Networks (Abraarma) reported that between 1 and 29 in May there were 136,117 positive results, against 31,981 calculated in April.

Faced with this new wave of cases, the municipality of Sao Paulo, the largest and most populous city in the country, today started administering the fourth dose of the anti-Covid vaccine to people over the age of 50.

Meanwhile, the health secretariats of the 27 states have reported that 4,591 infections have been reported in the last 24 hours, which represents a weekly average of 29,342 infections per day, with an increase of 103% compared to the previous average.

Yesterday was the 10th consecutive day with an uptrend of the weekly average of positives.

The accumulated total of cases since the start of the pandemic this has risen to 31,153,765. The number of deaths has instead reached 667,056, with a weekly average of 80 deaths per day, which indicates a decrease of 17%, according to what was published today by the newspaper O Globo. (HANDLE).
