Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki said that Poland takes seriously all the threats from Russia. Especially statements by Russian officials about the possibility of a nuclear strike.
It is reported by Ukrinform.
“We have no illusions. The goal of the aggression that began at the end of February is not to capture individual cities of Ukraine, but to force everyone in Europe to return 30-40 years ago”the diplomat said.
He stated that Russia is using all available tools and spheres, in particular military, economic and diplomatic, to achieve its goals. However, Poland is aware that the Russian Federation would have been able to get to its borders faster if Ukraine had not kept the defense.
The ambassador added that the war in Ukraine “is a chance to stop the regime that threatens the whole world.”
Russian nuclear exercises
After demands to stop the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine and hints at the possibility of using strategic weapons, Russia on June 1 began conducting exercises with the latest complexes for launching Yars nuclear missiles.
Yars is a Russian strategic missile system with a mobile and silo-based intercontinental ballistic missile with a multiple reentry vehicle. The performance characteristics of the Yars were not disclosed, but it is known that it is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 11,000 km.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that if American multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) were supplied to Ukraine, Russian cities would be under the threat of shelling from border areas and this would be “a step towards an unacceptable escalation.”
The Kremlin stated that they were not going to use nuclear weapons in the war with Ukraine, a nuclear strike would be launched only if “there is a threat to the existence of the state,” said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
It should be noted that when a state uses nuclear weapons, other nuclear powers will certainly strike at it in response – otherwise, the use of nuclear weapons may become uncontrollable.
