Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio is on a mission to Africa starting until Tuesday, to strengthen cooperation with the African continent. The first stop was Somalia where there had not been a visit from an Italian foreign minister for 10 years. Tomorrow and Tuesday stages scheduled in Ethiopia and Kenya. The visit – which follows those carried out in recent weeks by Minister Di Maio in Angola, the Republic of Congo and Mozambique – confirms the attention that Italy pays to the African continent, and in particular to the Horn of Africa. This mission testifies to the desire to strengthen the partnership between Italy and Africa, a continent that is at the center of Italy’s international agenda and which was given a leading role during last year’s G20 Presidency through numerous initiatives.
