Russian President Vladimir Putin dreams of NATO intervening in the war in Ukraine. He sees this as an opportunity to sit down again at the negotiating table with US President Joe Biden and return to world politics, from which he is being squeezed out by the collective West.

This opinion was expressed by military expert Oleg Zhdanov in an interview with Vladimir Poluyev on the Ukraine 24 Youtube channel.

The expert commented on the words of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that the Alliance intends to “help Ukraine to give it the strongest position at the negotiating table with Russia.”

“This statement contradicts the statement of Joe Biden, who at the beginning of the war determined the role and place of NATO in this war. He said that NATO would distance itself from this war as much as possible,” Zhdanov said.

He recalled that “until today, NATO as an Alliance, as a military bloc, does nothing to help Ukraine in its confrontation with the Russian Federation.”

“Because this is Putin’s dream – for NATO to intervene in this war, and the war will become world-class. Then Putin will not have to sit down at the negotiating table with President Zelensky. He will then demand negotiations with Joe Biden, and the geopolitical meaning of this war is completely lost,” the expert explained.

According to Zhdanov, this will be “a loss for the collective West,” because then Russia and Putin will remain in geopolitics and will be able to maintain influence on world processes.

Recall, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said earlier that the Alliance provides support to Ukraine, but will not take sides in order to prevent a global conflict.

Stoltenberg also noted that the war “will end at the negotiating table.”

Zhdanov explained why the West is slow to supply weapons to Ukraine

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov also said that some Western countries are in no hurry to supply Kyiv with long-range artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, as they are afraid of Ukraine’s victory in the war.

“In the West, unfortunately, the realization is coming that they are afraid of a world in which Ukraine will win. They are more afraid of it than a world where Putin will win. They believe that they know Putin and can agree with him. But the victorious Ukraine is completely changes a lot of factors – from the security system on the European continent to the structure of economic and financial relations in the EU itself,” he said.

Zhdanov also expressed his conviction that French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi during their visit to Kyiv would demand that the Ukrainian leadership negotiate with the Kremlin and agree to territorial concessions.
