In March, at rallies against the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine, as well as on social networks and on Internet forums, they began to use “new Russian flag” – blue and white instead of red, which is associated with blood. The new flag has become a symbol of the democratic movement in Russia. The other day, he first appeared in the building of the European Parliament. It was deployed at a working meeting with deputies.
Alexander Morozov, a Russian opposition journalist and public figure, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
He also posted a photo showing the flag being held by Sakharov Center director Sergei Lukashevsky, Free Russia Forum project coordinator Yuri Terekhov, Zurich-based Russian-language online magazine editor Marina Okhrimovskaya, and municipal deputies coach Natalya Shavshukova and political editor at Novaya Gazeta Europe” Kirill Martynov.
“This flag went around the world, it suddenly gained popularity. Although in Russia totalitarianism beat society with a score of 10: 0, I support the idea that the former Prime Minister of Lithuania, and now a member of the European Parliament, Andrius Kubilis, often expresses: democracy in Russia is also guarantee of security for Europe. In other words, things will be calm in Eastern Europe only when Russia also becomes a democratic country,” Morozov wrote.
