Russia, Navalny transferred to a maximum security prison

(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 14 – The leader of the Russian opposition Alexei Navalny was taken away from the prison near Moscow where he was being held. Neither the lawyers nor his relatives were informed in advance of the move. Navalny chief of staff Leonid Volkov and spokesperson Kira Jarmysch report this on social media.

One of the lawyers who had gone to see the dissident in prison was held at the checkpoint until 2 pm, then he was told: “There is no such prisoner here.”

According to Jarmysch, “it was rumored that he would be transferred to the IK-6 Melekhovo maximum security penal colony, but it is impossible to know when (and if) he will actually arrive there. The problem with his transfer to another colony is not just that the prison high security is much scarier. “

“In Pokrov (the prison where the opponent was being held) they said that Navalny was transferred to a colony under a harsh regime,” one of the lawyers told the Tass agency, explaining that the move is linked to the fact that the verdict on the new case came into effect. (HANDLE).
