(ANSA) – RIO DE JANEIRO, JUN 15 – The disappearance in the Amazon of the British journalist, Dom Philips, and of the Brazilian anthropologist, Bruno Pereira, could be linked to an international drug trafficker, according to the new line of investigation of the federal police made known by the media.
After two suspects are arrested, the police investigate the participation of at least two other people. One of them, who would be the main one, is a cocaine trafficker, with a strong presence on the route between Brazil and Peru: the area on the border between the two countries is the same as the disappearance.
Phillips and Pereira have been losing their tracks since June 5, when they disappeared in the indigenous land region of Vale do Javari. Both were conducting research and interviews in the region to produce a book and report on invasions in indigenous areas. (HANDLE).
