(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 16 – The Australian Minister of Energy has urged families in New South Wales, the state that also includes Sydney, to turn off the lights in the evening to deal with the energy crisis. This was reported by the BBC, underlining that the minister Chris Bowen has called for limiting the use of electricity to two hours per evening if “they have an alternative”.
The call comes after Australia’s main wholesale electricity market was suspended due to rising prices.
“If you have a choice when to do some activities, don’t do them 6-8pm,” he said at a televised press conference in Canberra. (HANDLE).
