Slovakia: Moscow will halve gas deliveries to supplier Spp

(ANSA) – PRAGUE, 17 JUN – Russia today announced to the Slovak company Spp that it will halve its gas supplies. This was announced by Richard Prokypcak, the managing director of Spp. The CEO mentioned the risk of a possible complete blockade of supplies from Russia to Slovakia, but said the current development will not have a significant impact on the operation of the company. “The halving of supplies for now does not cause us problems. We are working in the face of the real risk that these will be completely stopped,” said Prokypcak. He added that Russian gas supplies to SPP had already fallen by a tenth on Wednesday and that the deficit reached 34% on Thursday. According to Prokypcak, state-owned Spp, the main gas supplier in Slovakia, imports gas from the North Sea via Germany and the Czech Republic and also receives liquefied natural gas (LNG) thanks to new contracts. Slovakia now has a quantity of gas in storage equal to almost one third of its annual consumption. (HANDLE).
