Covid: rebound of infections in GB, the Jubilee also weighs

(ANSA) – LONDON, JUN 17 – Rebound of infections from Covid throughout the United Kingdom: 1.4 million people infected in the last week examined, 43% more than the 989,800 of the previous one, according to the data disseminated by the National Statistical Office (Ons). The rise is due both to the spread of the sub-variants Omicron 4 and 5, as happened elsewhere in Europe and America, but also to the large mass gatherings of the British to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee and 70 years on the throne of Queen Elizabeth.

Furthermore, we are witnessing the phenomenon of reinfections. For now, however, hospitalizations remain low, also thanks to the vast vaccination campaign conducted in the Kingdom. According to the ONS, it is still early to say whether it is the beginning of a new wave of Covid in the country. (HANDLE).
