the left senator Gustavo Petro and the businessman Rodolfo Hernándezwho are contesting the second round of the presidential elections in Colombia this Sunday, 19, they exchanged barbs on social networks about the risk of fraud in the election. The polls close at 18:00, Brasília time. The result will be announced in the following hours. The voting intention polls released so far indicate a tie between the candidates. Both have already voted. This is the first in nearly two decades that the Colombian election will not feature a name linked to former President Álvaro Uribe.

“The polls put us well above the other candidate, they will all be published. The only thing left for us to do is deal with the fraud. For that, you have to vote, each jury or witness must take pictures of the E14 from their table and compare it with the one published by the notary”, wrote Petro on his Twitter profile. In another publication, the congressman said that polling station officials have been handing out voting ballots “with a point marked in the blank vote”, which nullifies the voter’s vote. “They deliver in our high-voting areas ballots with a point marked in the blank ballot. If you see them, send us a photo and ask for another card so they don’t void your vote. Eye,” he stated. Hernández countered and declared that “in democracy, the only valid measure is scrutiny”. “Don’t insist on creating an environment of fraud based on gossip. How come the poll that favored him with more than 500,000 votes on March 13 was valid and now what he intends to claim are his ‘measures’? Be serious,” he tweeted.
