Various simultaneous firefighting operations and other emergency services continue in Spain to combat forest fires that have developed in various regions of the country.
The fire that has created the most concern so far is that developed in the Sierra de la Culebra, an area of the province of Zamora (Castile and León): the flames have already burned more than 25,000 hectares of land and forced to evacuate hundreds of people residing in various locality. The high-speed railway line connecting Madrid with Galicia has been interrupted. The situation, reports the Efe news agency, now seems to be improving, given that in the last few hours the temperatures have dropped considerably.
Other worrying situations, the Iberian media explain, have occurred in Navarre, where several places have been evacuated in the last few hours.
In recent days, firefighters have also been put to the test in Catalonia.
