(ANSA) – MADRID, 20 JUN – Operations continue in Spain to extinguish some large fires that have developed in various areas of the country in recent days: as announced by the local authorities, work is currently underway to contain two active fires in Navarre (north ), while in the province of Zamora (Castile and León) attempts are being made to definitively suffocate what devastated the Sierra de la Culebra, and in Catalonia progress has been made with that of Artesa de Segre (Lleida).
Help is coming from meteorology, with temperatures now milder than the very high ones of the last week in much of the country.
Meanwhile, in the morning there was also an alarm in Toledo, where one of the symbolic monuments of the city, the fortress called Alcázar (now home to a museum and a library), was affected by a fire. The fire, probably caused by an electrical problem, was “suffocated” before any personal or material damage was recorded, according to the municipality of Toledo. (HANDLE).
