Green pass from the Eurocamera to extend the validity of the EU Green Pass

(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, JUN 23 – Green light from the European Parliament for the extension of the validity of the legal framework created for the establishment of the Green Pass, or the EU digital Covid certificate as defined in Brussels, for a further 12 months. MEPs approved the agreement reached on 13 June with EU governments to prevent restrictions on free movement in the Union in the event of new variants or other threats related to the pandemic. The current rules, due to expire next week, will be extended until June 30, 2023.

The text approved by the classroom establishes that EU countries “should not restrict the free movement of holders of the EU Covid digital certificate in a disproportionate or discriminatory way”.

By the end of 2022, the European Commission will assess the impact of the Green Pass on free movement and fundamental rights and may propose its revocation if the public health situation allows it, based on the most recent scientific advice from the European Center. for the prevention and control of diseases (Ecdc) and the EU Health Security Committee.
