(ANSA) – LONDON, JUN 23 – Second day of almost total paralysis of trains for millions of passengers in the United Kingdom in the context of the mega strike in the railway sector, the largest in 30 years on the island, proclaimed by the unions this week in the context of a dispute over wage increases, redundancies and working conditions that pits workers against both companies in the sector and Boris Johnson’s Tory government.
The protest – animated by the emerging figure of the union leader Mick Lynch – remains divided into 3 alternating days of abstention from work (Tuesday, today and Saturday), after the failure of yesterday’s new negotiation talks, in order to maximize their impact. Today’s stop is from 7.30 to 18.30 and participation is already confirmed at very high levels: with an average of about 80% of the trains canceled in England, Wales and Scotland, according to the latest indications, as on Tuesday .
