The Pentagon intends to transfer 18 river patrol boats to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package.

As noted on the US Department of Defense website, these will be boats of three different types. Two 35-foot “small river boats”, six 40-foot offshore boats and 10 34-foot Dauntless Sea Ark patrol boats are planned for delivery. The 35 foot “small river craft” is SURC (Small Unit Riverine Craft). This is an armored boat used by the US Marine Corps to control coastal waters and river waters.
SURC can carry 16 fighters and reach speeds of up to 39 knots (72 km/h). The boat has three points for mounting weapons – machine guns or automatic grenade launchers.
The SURC power plant consists of Yanmar 6LY2A-STP diesel engines and Hamilton HJ292 water jets.
The boat was created by Raytheon Naval & Maritime Integrated Systems. And the company’s contractor is SAFE Boats. These boats are designed to carry 20 people (6 crew members and troops of 14 fighters). The power plant of the boat is 440 horsepower Yanmar engines and water cannons.
