In Istanbul almost 400 stopped for Gay Pride

(ANSA) – ISTANBUL, June 27 – A total of 373 people were arrested yesterday by the police during the gay pride march in Istanbul and released during the night after spending a few hours in the barracks. This was announced by the organizers of the demonstration that was held yesterday in the center of the city on the Bosphorus despite being banned by the prefecture for reasons of public order. A few hundred demonstrators marched in some streets in the center of Istanbul only to be blocked by the police who arrested almost 400 people including the photographer of the AFP agency Bulent Kilic.

After being allowed from 2002 to 2014, with the participation of tens of thousands of people, Istanbul Pride has been banned every year since 2015. (ANSA).
