(ANSA) – NEW YORK, JUN 28 – There are also 4 children among the 46 migrants found dead on board an abandoned truck in San Antonio, Texas, and others are in critical condition. A massacre resulting from desperation and probably from the scorching heat that is falling on the southern state, where temperatures have been over 39 degrees for days.
The macabre discovery was made by agents of the Homeland Security Investigation, an agency specializing in cases of human trafficking. Investigations are ongoing and the authorities are currently holding three people linked to the massacre in custody. It is not clear whether among these there is the driver of the heavy vehicle, who fled shortly before the truck was discovered.
Texas Governor, Republican Greg Abbott, attacks President Joe Biden for the massacre. “These deaths are his. They are the result of his deadly policy of open borders and show the consequences of his refusal to apply the law.” (HANDLE).
