(ANSA) – TEHRAN, JUN 29 – Two days of indirect talks between Iran and the US held in Doha to try to restart the 2015 nuclear deal ended without results, according to the Iranian agency Tasnim, citing “an informed source”. The talks were organized after the EU High Representative for External Affairs, Josep Borrell, paid a visit to Tehran supporting the resumption of dialogue.
“The weakness of Joe Biden’s US administration in making a final decision led to the end of the talks without any conclusions,” the source said.
In Doha there was no direct confrontation between the American and Iranian delegations. It was the EU mediator Enrique Mora who brought the messages that the two sides exchanged.
The talks represented an attempt to restart the Vienna negotiations on Iranian nuclear power – in which Iran, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China and indirectly the US participate – which have stalled since last March.
Among the thorniest arguments are the Iranian request that Washington remove the Revolutionary Guards from the American list of terrorist organizations and the request for a guarantee that the United States cannot exit a new agreement in the future, as did in 2018 by the then president. Donald Trump. (HANDLE).
