Iceland has decided to suspend the use of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine. The Health Department named the reasons.

Reported by The Guardian.

What happened

It is noted that one of the reasons for the refusal of the Moderna vaccine was the sufficient amount of Pfizer vaccine in the country.

“Since there is enough Pfizer vaccine in the area, the chief epidemiologist has decided not to use Moderna vaccine in Iceland,” the statement said.

Another reason for refusing Moderna is the possible risk of heart inflammation.

“This decision is due to the increased incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis after vaccination with the Moderna vaccine, as well as vaccinations using Pfizer / BioNTech,” it said.
