(ANSAMed) – BEIRUT, JUN 30 – The Syrian government, accused by many of facilitating the production and smuggling abroad of amphetamine tablets known as Captagon, has announced in recent hours the seizure of a “large quantity of Captagon pills “.
The government news agency Sana cited a “source” of the “competent authorities” that the seizure of “tens of thousands of pills” took place in the southern region of Daraa, on the border with Jordan.
The Hashemite kingdom recently accused the Syrian government and its ally Iran – present on Syrian territory with Iraqi, Lebanese and military advisors from the Pasdaran – of facilitating smuggling and the production of amphetamines.
According to Syrian sources cited by Sana, the seized cargo was on board a truck traveling from Damascus to Daraa and headed for Jordan. (ANSAMed).
