German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is convinced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will be able to wage a protracted war. The Russian leader has been preparing for it for at least a year. However, European sanctions hurt him and worsen his country’s economy.
Scholz said this in an interview with CBS News.
The German Chancellor noted that Putin had been preparing for war for a very long time, and made the decision to start it at least a year before the invasion.

“He (Putin, – Ed.) is the leader of a very large country in which many people live, with a large fortune, and he really wages this cruel war – and he has been preparing for it for a very long time. I think that the decision to start this war was made a year before it began, or perhaps earlier, because he was preparing for it. And therefore he will be able to continue the war for a very long time, “said Scholz.
