(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, 01 JUL – Donald Trump is accelerating his plans and could announce prematurely, perhaps as early as July, his re-nomination to the White House for 2024. The New York Times writes, explaining that it would be a move to protect himself in part from the devastating revelations that emerged from the parliamentary investigation into the Capitol assault and other investigations underway, in order to reinforce his thesis that these are politically motivated accusations. If he reappeared, the tycoon would enter the race as the front-runner, with a consensus among Republicans around 80%.
The possible move worries a part of the Grand Old Party, for the risk that its descent into the field will attract attention and distract from the campaign for Midterm, where the Republicans are projected towards victory in the House and Senate. For the dem, however, it would be an opportunity to transform the November vote into a new referendum on Trump. (HANDLE).
