(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 02 – For the first time in Switzerland, the first legal marriage between persons of the same sex was legally celebrated, nine months after the referendum in which 64% of Swiss voted in favor of the law on ‘Marriage for everyone. The BBC recalls this, reporting the first marriages held yesterday that give same-sex couples the same rights as straight married couples, including the right to adopt. The couples who pronounced the ‘fateful yes’ described the moment as “a symbolic day”, in which, among other things, many couples already linked by a legally recognized union were able to register this as a ‘marriage’.
