Taiwan, China attack not imminent but US is watching closely

(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 03 – A Chinese attack on Taiwan is not imminent, but the US is watching ‘closely. “The chief of staff of the United States Army, General Mark Milley, told the BBC.

China is clearly developing the ability to attack at some point, but deciding to do so would be a political choice – he added arguing that Beijing says Taiwan is a breakaway province that must be reunited with the mainland, if necessary by force.

China accused the United States of supporting Taiwan’s independence and promised to “resolutely crush” any such attempt.

There has recently been a marked escalation between China and the United States, Taiwan’s most powerful ally. The Chinese sent dozens of warplanes to the Taiwan air defense zone, while the United States sent military ships. (HANDLE).
