German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that the world is on the threshold of a new era – after the war in Ukraine it will be impossible to engage in politics and business as if nothing had happened.

DW reports.

According to him, Russia’s brutal war of aggression against Ukraine has caused the strongest dynamics of geopolitical and geo-economic changes, the end and consequences of which are remotely unpredictable.

Steinmeier believes that the world now needs a political, military and economic reorientation.

“We must make our democracies, our economies, sustainable, while keeping in mind our goals – a rules-based world order and a liberal, fair and climate-friendly global economy,” he said.

One of the goals of the German president called independence from authoritarian countries. According to him, it is also necessary to find new partners, such as Singapore, Indonesia or African countries. Instead of seeing them as countries in need, “we should finally recognize them for what they are: important partners who can help exist in the new world,” Steinmeier said.

We previously reported that Steinmeier had lost hope of partnering with Russia.

We also recall that the Russian Federation is “suffocating” Germany with gas: how the Germans reacted to the Kremlin’s blackmail.
