(ANSA) – TUNIS, 05 JUL – Tunisian President Kais Saied has sent citizens to vote in favor of the draft of the new Constitution on the occasion of the referendum on 25 July next with an open letter addressed to the population. The national media reported it.
“Say yes to avoid the disintegration of the state and achieve the objectives of the Revolution. There will be no misery, terrorism, famine, injustice and pain”, reads the letter. The president insists that unprecedented impunity has been achieved over time which has allowed several people to escape sanctions resulting from their actions and encouraged corruption. Saied also speaks of maneuvers and distortions of reality: “They robbed the coffers of the state and public bodies. Poverty has spread more and more as well as the number of those who have enriched themselves illegally and illegitimately”, he writes.
The Council of Regions and Territories, inserted in the new Charter, according to the president will allow everyone to participate in the decision-making process and aims to put an end to marginalization. Saied also attacks in the letter those who have criticized the draft of the new Constitution. (ANSA).
