President Julius Maada Bio said his cabinet unanimously endorsed a risk-free maternity bill, which would expand access to abortion in a country where abortion is only allowed when the life of a mother is at risk.

Activists hope the bill, which is now being drafted, will be presented to parliament by September and approved this year.
