In Kazakhstan, on the morning of July 6, an explosion occurred at one of the largest oil fields, Tengiz. A hydraulic test was carried out there, and one of the pipes could not withstand the pressure, according to Forbes.

The explosion killed two workers and injured three others, local police said. Medical assistance is provided to three workers who received various injuries.

The Tengiz oil and gas field is one of the largest in Kazakhstan, with oil reserves estimated at 3.2 billion tons.

Conflict with Russia

The explosion occurred amid a decision by a Russian court to suspend the operation of the sea terminal in Novorossiysk, through which Kazakhstan exported oil from Tengiz, for 30 days.

This decision was made by the Primorsky Court of Novorossiysk due to violations in the field of transportation, which were allegedly discovered by Rostransnadzor.

Through the CPC oil terminal in the Black Sea, most of the resource is exported from Kazakhstan (80%). The total capacity is 67 million tons per year, the pipeline connects oil fields in the west of Kazakhstan and in the Caspian Sea.
