(ANSA) – MADRID, JUL 12 – “We are following with concern the evolution of active fires, especially in the provinces of Cáceres and Salamanca”: the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, writes on Twitter, referring to fires developed in the western part of the Iberian country , near the border with Portugal. “Thanks to the teams that work tirelessly to extinguish them, I express my solidarity with the evacuated people”, adds the message of Sánchez, who then calls for “caution” in “these high-risk days” due to the current heat wave.
The most complicated fire of the last few hours is developing in a wooded area of the comarca de Las Hurdes, on the border between the provinces of Cáceres and Salamanca, two of the areas most affected by high temperatures in recent days. Land and air vehicles were sent to the ground, with 300 men engaged in extinction work. About 300-400 people have been evacuated from their homes so far, according to local media. (HANDLE).
