Media Gb, 1,400 graves have been excavated in Mariupol cemetery since mid-May

(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 15 – New satellite images of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, occupied by the Russians, have highlighted an expansion of the cemetery with 1,400 new graves since mid-May. This was reported by the Guardian citing a report published by the Center for Information Resilience (Cir) based in the United Kingdom. The researchers used satellite imagery and found that around 1,400 new graves were added between May 12 and June 29. According to the study, it is estimated that five times more new graves are excavated every month than before the Russian invasion.

“Our report illustrates the continuing and extreme pressure on civilian life in Ukraine, especially in occupied areas.

The makeshift burials and the growing number of graves around Ukraine, particularly in and around occupied areas, are a clear example of the civilian death toll after the Russian invasion, “said Benjamin Strick, director of investigations by Cir. (ANSA).
