Ukraine: little Liza is buried with a white crown

(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 17 – Liza Dmitrieva, the four-year-old girl with Down syndrome killed in the bombing this week on the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia, was buried today with a wreath of white flowers on her head. During the funeral ceremony, the Guardian reports, the Orthodox priest who officiated it burst into tears, exclaiming: “Evil cannot win”.
Liza, killed while being accompanied by her mother in her stroller, is one of the 22 victims of the Russian missile attack on this central Ukrainian city, hundreds of kilometers from the front line. The funeral took place in the Cathedral of the Transfiguration, which dates back to the 18th century. The little girl’s grandmother, Larysa Dmitrieva, caressed Liza’s face, while her father Artem stood still with tears running down her face.
The girl’s mother, Iryna, is still in hospital after being seriously injured in the bombing. The woman appeared in an interview with local television. “The world doesn’t care, she sees what’s going on but doesn’t protect us,” she said. (HANDLE).
