Iran: 20 arrests for Abadan building collapse with 43 dead

(ANSA-AFP) – TEHRAN, JUL 21 – Iran has registered 20 people in the register of suspects and arrested in connection with the collapse, in May, of the Metropol building in Abadan, in the province of Khuzestan, where 43 people were killed . This was announced by the Iranian judiciary, as reported by the Mizan Online website, without specifying the identity of the suspects and what they are accused of. “All the defendants in the case are already in custody” have made known the judicial authorities also confirming the death of the owner of the building, considered by many to be responsible.

In the days following the collapse of the building, the inhabitants of Abadan and other Iranian cities demonstrated against the government accusing it of corruption and negligence that would lead to the tragedy.
