(ANSA) – NEW DELHI, 21 JUL – In India the celebrations have already begun for the victory of Draupadi Murmu, the almost elected 15th President of the Indian Republic, even if the count has not yet finished. A large crowd gathered in Delhi around the headquarters of the BJP, the party of Prime Minister Modi who nominated the 64-year-old politician.
Murmu will be the first president born in a tribal community and the second woman to fill the role. The count is underway in a room of the Parliament of the capital, where the ballot boxes were brought together with the almost 5,000 ballots of the “great electors”, all the parliamentarians and the elected representatives of the regional assemblies.
